Easter, alongside being the most significant event in the Christian calendar, also officially means spring has arrived! The new season brings with it longer brighter days, rabbits and lambs, the giving of chocolate eggs and hopefully some time off with the family. However, you choose to spend your time over Easter we have plenty of tips on how to indulge and make the most of this wonderful holiday.

Eat chocolate eggs

At Forever we love nothing more than giving and receiving chocolate eggs. This is because they not only fulfil our chocolate cravings but can potentially have health benefits too! Historically the first chocolate eggs appeared in France and Germany in the 19th Century and were made of dark chocolate, which has many more benefits compared to milk chocolate eggs.

What are the benefits of dark chocolate?

If you buy quality dark chocolate with 70% or higher cocoa content it is packed full of minerals such as potassium, calcium, vitamin C, iron, copper and magnesium, with the latter being particularly helpful in preventing heart disease. According to a study by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology dark chocolate helps restore flexibility to your arteries while also preventing white blood cells from sticking to the walls of blood vessels.

Another study by Brian Buijsse of the German Institute of Human Nutrition has shown that eating dark chocolate has been shown to reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol and improve levels of “good” cholesterol, potentially lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.

According to Dr. Bret S. Stetka dark chocolate is also good for your brain. About 2 ounces of dark chocolate contains 27mg of caffeine, perfect for giving your brain a gentle boost! But also, the anti-inflammatory qualities of dark chocolate have been found to be beneficial in treating brain injuries such as concussion. Adding to this is the fact that it is rich in flavanol, which is a key factor in helping reduce memory loss in seniors.

Make time for pampering

Although you can’t always escape the everyday stresses of modern life be it your kids running around the house or lots of housework to catch up on, Easter also gives you a chance to pamper yourself either at home or at a spa. If you’re at home why not use one of Forever’s great skincare products? Infinite by Forever Hydrating Cleanser contains vitamin E which helps to break down dirt and debris whilst conditioning skin with a veil of silky moisture.

Other products you can use from the Infinite range include Firming Complex and Restoring Crème. Firming Complex contains vitamin C which contributes to normal collagen formation and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, while Restoring Crème contains niacin. Niacin, more commonly known as vitamin B3, contributes to the maintenance of normal skin by helping to even out skin tone and texture to aid a more youthful-looking appearance.

Spend time with the Family

Easter is also the perfect chance to spend quality time with the family and have fun!
